Florence

Hi everyone,

Have arrived here in Florence. Although when I got to Naples to reserve a seat on the train the lady told me (told a girl I had meet in Postitano that could speak Italian) that all seats where reserved for the rest of the day and if I wanted I could get on and maybe would have to stand most of the way. I did get on with this Aussie couple I was chatting to and we had the carriage to ourselves, when they got off in Rome I had the 1st class carriage all to myself the rest of the way and no-one came to check my ticket so I had a free trip.

I was expecting the weather to be a bit cooler in Florence but its not. I spent an extra day in Positano just in case and ended up kayaking along the Almalfi coast for about 3 hours which was beautiful. I had spent the morning on the beach with this girl from the Hostel and she had been chatting to an Italian guy the night before who had a couple fo kayaks, so took us out in them.
It was sad to leave Positano not just because of the spot but also because I had fallen for a local, he was very cute and playful with big brown eyes........ the hostels 3 month old puppy, he was adorable. (see the pic....must admit his owner was quite cute too)



Someone in my room in the Hostel today gave me a pass for a hop on hop off bus so I had a good look around Florence today as well as Fiesole, it nice just strolling the streets. It was actually the first day I had spend by myself since I had been away. From Fiesole you look down on the whole city as well as looking out to Tuscany which I cant wait to see more of. I am heading out to Siena tommorrow where I will base myself for a bit and explore the tuscany area.

It would be very hard to have bad food here (unless you with tour group apparently) and everything I have had has been so delicous and the service so good. The best food I had was on my birthday on the Cinque Terre and Brendon and Ange took me out and I had sea bass, which was so fresh and good. And the Gelato....very had not to have one everyday to taste all the flavours.

Feels like I have been away for ages and am having such a good time.
